BBSC will be sailing under Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) rules. The RRS governs the sport of sailboat racing. It is revised and published every four years by World Sailing. The current edition is The RRS 2017-2020. Go to www.sailing.org/racingrules to view and download The Racing Rules of Sailing
Basic sailing rules which should prevent most collisions: Click here for a video and another video
- A boat on port tack (the wind coming from the left, the boom on the starboard) gives way to one on starboard tack (wind from right, boom on port).
- A boat on Starboard tack with right of way may shout "Starboard" to a Port tack boat to help prevent a collision.
- A boat to windward (closest to where the wind is coming from) gives way to a boat to leeward (the boat further away from the wind).
- Within 3 boat lengths at a mark( the zone), the boat on the inside, nearest the mark, will usually need to be given room to go around the mark.

- Please download the Race Entry Declaration for 2023 BBSC Club Racing form and email it to info@bantrybaysailingclub.ie at least 48 hours before racing starts.

For safety all skippers need to check the weather and tides before sailing.
